Hello,

My name is Yucel Kurtegyit, I live in Ankara, Turkey, in the Winter and have a bar in Gumbet, Bodrum in the summer. I visited Liverpool to stay with some very good friends in May.

I have just seen your site and would like to contribute.

A few years ago my friends brought me a present to Turkey, it was a map of all the pubs in Liverpool City Centre which I put up on the wall in my bar. I'm not sure how many pubs my friends took me to but I do know that the choice of bars and pubs in Liverpool is overwhelming. Everybody is really friendly and always have time for you. Visiting them really gave me loads of ideas on how to improve my bar in Turkey. The only drawback is I fell in love with draught Guiness and unfortunately, you can not buy this in Turkey.

I was taken on the Ferry across the Mersey and visited the Aquarium in Seacombe. It was interesting to listen to the commentary on the Ferry. Here is a photo of me and my friend that was taken with the Liver Building in the background.

I also visited Everton FC's football ground and was allowed in to get my picture taken. It was amazing. I have seen English Football on TV but never thought I would ever get to touch the sacred ground of Everton. I have a photograph for your site.

I also visited Liverpool FC's football ground but was not allowed in so I had my photo taken by the Shankley Statue.

The English weather was not very good when I came over because I had been used to very hot weather in Turkey, to me it was very cold but this did not stop me wanting to see as much as I could of Liverpool.

I was also taken to McCarthur Glen's Designer Outlet Village. I was speechless. I have never seen anything like this before. I did enjoy Thornton's - the chocolate is so much sweeter than in Turkey. I did take practically a full suitcase of chocolate home for my wife Nazler and my two children, Gizeme and Zchara. I do hope their teeth don't fall out.

I made a trip to the Beatles Story at the Albert Dock which was very interesting because I've sung along with the Beatles songs for many years.

I really enjoyed my time in Liverpool and would love to come over again.

If you have been a visitor to Merseyside then you too have the opportunity to voice your own opinions and send us your holiday snaps. Just e-mail lin@beatlecity.com. Tell us of your good or bad experiences (if any). The people involved in the City Council and the tourism industry on Merseyside strive very hard to make your stay a pleasant one, they would want you only to go back home with happy memories.

We look forward to hearing from you all.
