Merseyside
is lucky to have a wealth of buses, trains, ferries and taxi cabs. Many
of the city's main attractions can be reached by Smart Bus. These are
single-decker buses, which can accommodate everyone, including people
in wheelchairs. The train service, which includes an underground system,
makes it easy to travel around and beyond the Merseyside area. Nobody
should come to Merseyside without travelling on a Mersey Ferry, made famous
by Gerry Marsden with his song 'Ferry Across the Mersey.' You can take
a cruise up and down the river and listen to a commentary on the history
of the docks and waterfront. Taxi cabs play an important role in Liverpool's
transport system. There are several taxi ranks around the city centre
where you can pick up a cab at almost any time of the day.
