| One
of Liverpool's oldest high street stores has closed it's doors for
the last time. C & A in Church Street Liverpool had to say goodbye
to around 80 staff, ending a 70 year history in the city. Despite
a massive relaunch 3 years ago, the news of its closure was announced
last summer. This decision was taken after the announcement, that
it had suffered losses of £250m over the last five years. After
the announcement of its closure, sales in the Liverpool centre store
shot up by 30%. The large store will not remain vacant for long, the
high street retailer Next is planning to move into the building next
spring. 14/11/2000 |
