Beatles still "Top of the Pops"

A new North-South divide was revealed today - in pop music. But, for once the North has emerged the richer. More than one on four music lovers believes all the best bands come from the North, according to a major new survey.
In the North-West - with it's pop-rich cities of Liverpool and Manchester - 42 percent said their region produced the greatest groups.
In the survey of more than 1,000 music lovers for music website dotmusic, The Beatles were named as the best band from the North-West, pipping Mancunian rivals Oasis.
