Planks for the memory

Southport's pier has been redeveloped at a cost of £4.3m. The original pier dates back to 1860 - the oldest in the country. Would you like your name etched in the pier for posterity? You can sponsor a plank for £50 and have your name and a message etched on it. HRH The Queen Mother is to have one to mark her 100th birthday and 1,000 planks have already gone to people from as far afield as Australia.
