Thanks to the Penny Lane Community Association, the old playing fields in Penny Lane known as Grove Mount are to be turned into a new park and will be renamed the Penny Lane Millennium Green. Councillor Mike Storey, leader of Liverpool City Council, has cut the first sod of earth to start the £120,000 project. It is to be funded by the council and the Countryside Commission and when completed, will give the residents of the area a communal park and tourists a place to sit and reflect on the past.
