Good Luck Nick
& Bob
Rushworth's
music store in Liverpool, known to most Beatles fans as the place where
the Beatles bought their Gibson guitars, is to finally close it's doors
after 170 years trading in the city. David Rushworth announced that he
has had some financial difficulties and had decided to put the company
into voluntary liquidation. This was a blow to the staff especially clarinet
expert Nick Grantham and saxophonist Bob Whittaker. Only a few days after
their redundancy they were planning to open their own business. The outlet
specialising in woodwind and brass instruments will be based at Curly's
music shop on Ranelagh Street and will be called Curly's Woodwind. The
St Anne Street based pipe organ business Rushworth & Draper, run by Alastair
David's brother, is not affected by the closure of the shop.
