| The
experts at Guinness World Records, who are now planning to launch
their new publication here, have made it official. The city has produced
53 number one singles and twenty one chart topping acts, including
such names as Atomic Kitten, Mel C, Frankie Goes to Hollywood and
of course The Beatles.
It
is because of this fact, that the latest edition of Guinness World
Records British Hit Singles will be launched on the 25th May at
The Cavern Club Liverpool, with the help of Atomic Kitten. A spokesman
for Guinness said: "With a population of 461,481, Liverpool
has produced a staggering 53 number one hit singles. This fact makes
it the Capital City of Pop, with a number one for every 8,707 Scousers.
To
Coincide with the book launch, the first of it's kind outside London,
a presentation will be made to Atomic Kitten for their own number
one song Whole Again. This kept them in the number one slot for
four weeks, making them the only female trio to stay at the top
of the charts for this length of time, beating such names as The
Three Degrees, The Supremes and Bananarama.18/05/01
